8/10: Back with  Bang!

Brothers Three Worthy made her return to the show ring for 2010 at the Ohio State Fair and made it in grand style! Judge Norm Magnussen named her his winning 5-year-old and Grand Champion of a deep and competitive show that featured four reigning or former All-American cows and several more who've been Nominated.

Worthy is pictured to the left with Eric Topp from Topp-View, our partners on Worthy, on the strap. She's pictured with the Reserve Champion Forest Lawn Whistler Molly.

Look for Worthy at World Dairy Expo 2010!

7/10: An All Wisconsin debut . . .

A first trip to the Wisconsin Ayrshire State Show proved to be successful for our Ayrshire investment! Yellow Briar BBBK Pamela-ET took first place in a deep and competitive Winter Calf class with 15 entries. Casey's on the left guiding her into the blue ribbon position.

Later in the day, Judge Chad Ryan pulled Pamela out in his final four and named her Honorable Mention for Junior Champion.

We're excited to see how she continues develop along the tanbark trail this fall!

7/10: A new family in the program . . .

That's Jo-Dee Wondermnt Nitty Gritty-ET on the left, a January 2010 Top Acres Wonderment daughter of the 2007 Expo Champion Valligrove Jetway Nora. Gritty became a purchase of ours at the Oregon Main Event Sale in partnership with fellow Wisconsin Brown Swiss breeders Ole Acres and Horseshoe Hill. We're pleased with our continued partnership with each.

With the phenomenal success Nora has been transmitting, we're excited to begin working with this up and coming cow family. Thanks to Allan Hanselmann for contacting us about Gritty and special thanks to Jodi Coppini who's been housing Gritty for us until Madison. We're excited to get her home!

 7/10: Race to the winner's circle . . .

The race is over and Brothers Three Wisp is the Kentucky National Stakes Winner. Wisp topped the National Brown Swiss Sale at $37,000 selling to Elite Dairy, Copake, N.Y. Contending bidder was Bradner Farms, Canada.

Wisp hails from our leading Wisper family being a granddaughter via an EX-90 Premium of the 2x All-American Brothers Three Wisper. She sold due in August to Prelude Zeus and ready for another tanbark trail run this fall.

Our sale topper was jointly consigned with Kentucky Bluegrass Genetics and we owe them many thanks for their expert care and development of Wisp. Jeff and Lisa Gibson took a liking to her as a gangly spring yearling at the NAILE show and developed her into a national level show cow who's undefeated in milking form. Our thanks also goes out to the sales team, bidders, and other friends who offered their congratulations on her sale. We look forward to seeing Wisp out and about this fall under the Elite Dairy banner!

5/10: Expanding our color palette . . .

Brothers Three Brown Swiss is officially in the Ayrshire business. We've expanded our color pallette beyond the shades of brown we love to include the red and white of the Ayrshire breed.

To the left is Yellow Briar BBBK Pamela-ET, a December 2009 calf we purchased at the P&A Ayrshire Sale. She's from the popular BB Kellogg and out of the 2006 All-Canadian Senior 3 year-old, Yellow Briar Panama EX-91.

We're excited about this new venture to bring a lifelong dream of Casey's to reality!

5/10: Investing in a Snowstorm . . .

Our day at the Elite Dairy Sale wasn't complete with just sharing updates via Twitter and watching Brandi sell. Towards the end of the day, a summer yearling popped into the ring from a cow that we know well.

Cutting Edge Jet Star, a summer yearling was added to our show string. She's a Jetway daughter of Alfa Creek Starmist 2E-91 who hails from the Snowstorm family. Starmist is a cow we previously owned, having purchased her as a calf during the 2003 Top Acres Finale and then reselling her in 2006 at the Sunshine Genetics Opportunity Sale. Starmist has developed nicely for Elite Dairy and has five Excellent dams behind her, the fourth being Snowstorm herself.

We're excited about this calf's future potential!

5/10: Brandi sells at Elite Dairy

Our friends at Elite Dairy hosted a great sale on the first Saturday of May, and Brothers Three was proud to be a part of the event. Our breeding was on display with Brothers Three Brandi (pictured left) selling for $13,600 to Swiss Dreams Farm in Alberta, Canada.

Her fancy June yearling was the talk of the heifer group and attracted a lively bidding pace. She was the purchase of the Regusci family from California. We are anxious to see how she develops this fall on the tanbark trail.

We made a purchase of our own and will be excited to share information on her in the future. Congrads everyone!

3/10: Thanks to Faithful Acres!

Sale season got off to a bang for Brothers Three in 2010 with three great consignments at the Midwest Revue on March 25, all from our leading Wisper cow family.

The highlight consignment was a first offering from Brothers Three Worthy-ET EX-92 (left) who was Reserve All-American and Reserve Int. Champ. at World Dairy Expo in 2008. Worthy's Diablo daughter, Whistle, sold due in June to Vigor as a Junior 3-year-old for this year. She became the purchase of Faithful Acres in New York.

Faithful Acres also took home Brothers Three Windie, a 9-08 Legacy straight from Wisper who's full sister, Whip It, topped the World Premier Sale last fall (see below). Please visit their website at www.faithful-acres.com.

10/09: A Grand accomplishment . . .

Brothers Three Wisp was named Grand Champion of the Southeastern National Brown Swiss Show, capping a banner year for our Junior 3-year-old. She is pictured left making the turn for the final pull led by Lisa Gibson from Kentucky Bluegrass, our partners and the expert caretakers of Wisp. Wisp twice showed in Louisville this year and twice went home Grand Champion.

Thanks to everyone for their interest and congratulations you shared with us on Wisp. We're pretty proud of her!

10/09: Whip It good!

The World Premier Sale capped a great week for Brothers Three with the sale of Brothers Three Whip It-ET. A 9-08 Legacy daughter of Wisper, Whip It topped the sale at $8,100. She was the choice of Gerritt and Lauren Debruin of Lake Mills, Wis. Thank you for your trust in our breeding!

Whip It is a sister to Worthy, the Reserve Intermediate Champion at World Dairy Expo 2008. She is also a sister to Brothers Three Witney, the Premium dam of Wisp. Wisp was the Supreme Winner of the Kingsmill futurity. At the Wisconsin State Show, Whip It was 9th in a deep class.

10/09: First for a Swiss!

Brothers Three Wisp achieved a breed milestone on the last day of World Dairy Expo 2009 when she was named Supreme Champion of the Kingsmill International Futurity. Judge Steve McDonald remarked that the judges were unanimous in her selection.

Wisp is the first Brown Swiss to be named Supreme Champion of the futurity at World Dairy Expo. She is owned with, and under the expert care of Jeff, Lisa, and Katie Gibson and the KY-Bluegrass show crew. Thanks for their great work!

09/09: Showing our breeding at WDE

We were pleased to have 5 cows carrying our prefix show at World Dairy Expo 2009. This marks the most that have shown at the show with our prefix and is made even more gratifying that they came from several different herds.

Here are the results!

Wisp - 1st Junior 3-year old & Supreme Futurity
Brandi - 2nd Junior 3-year old
Worthy - 8th 4-year old
Wanita - 11th Junior 2-year old (pictured left)
Windie - 13th Junior 2-year old
Best Three Females - 6th place

09/09: Brandi wins at AADS!

Brothers Three Brandi continued her winning ways for Elite Dairy and picked right back up on last years's Reserve All-American performance. At the All-American Dairy Show, Brandi was 1st Jr. 3-year-old and Honorable Mention Intermediate Champion. She will be one to contend with at World Dairy Expo.

Additionally, Brothers Three HP Willow, also owned by Elite Dairy, stood 3rd in the Spring Yearling Class. Round Hill Prem Lil Fern was the winning Sr. 3-year-old for Elite Dairy. We wish them luck at Madison!

08/09: KY St Fair Grand Champion

An early highlight of the 2009 show season happened at the Kentucky State Fair in August. Brothers Three Wisp was named Grand Champion of the show after winning Junior 3-year-old class. Wisp is pictured on the far left as the judge made his selection for champion.

Thanks to our partners at KY-Bluegrass for continuing to develop Wisp so successfully and having her ready for the ring at the show. We look forward to her fall campaign this year.

07/09: Thanks to Columbia!

Jake just recently returned from a trip down to Columbia to serve as the judge for the Brown Swiss show at Agroexpo 2009. His thoughts:

“The show was a very rewarding experience and I got to see a tremendous group of cattle. Over 150 head of Brown Swiss paraded through the ring including nearly 40 bulls.  The Swiss in Columbia are not much different then here and it was quality wise one of the best I have judged.  Highlights from the show included a Parker fall calf was Junior Champion and a Parker Jr. 3 year old was Honorable Mention Intermediate Champion. Special thanks to everyone from the Columbus House and Columbian Brown Swiss Association for the great fellowship, opportunity, and hospitality while I was there!”

07/09: An amazing honor . . .

Brothers Three Brown Swiss has been named the 2009 National Outstanding Young Brown Swiss Breeder. The National Brown Swiss Young Breeder Award is presented annually to a deserving breeder under the age of 40 who has shown expertise in dairy farming and Brown Swiss cattle breeding, participation in Brown Swiss Cattle Breeders’ Association programs and events, and leadership roles in the community, both in agricultural and non-agricultural organizations.

We want to thank Cindy Warner for nominating us, as well as others for their support of our nomination.
